GORDON DUTFIELD
I started in the business at the end of 2009 with no sales & marketing or representation experience at all. Before starting I was working abroad in IBIZA as a DJ, the reason for being over there was because I had never known what I really wanted to do. All my friends had ideas of their jobs & their future but I had no idea at the time – which obviously frustrated me.
I arrived back and was looking for work on the internet. I seen the company advertisement, and what really stood out was the explanation of “no experience needed – as full training provided”, so I applied for one of their roles and was successful.
In this business I have realised that within a short space of time just with a little hard-work that the advancement can be fairly rapid, just after the first quarter of me joining the business I attended a large – Scottish expansion focused – meeting which was held in the meeting rooms at Hampden Stadium (Scotland’s National Stadium) and I was asked in advance to prepare a speech – mainly to talk about personal recruitment and how I dealt with recruitment processes and selections, I couldn’t quite believe that I was up on a stage at Hampden and doing a speech to just under 200 people! At the same event I was back up on stage for a second time for winning a Rising Star award for our office.
Just after the second quarter of me joining the business I then attended another similar event – this time held in Edinburgh at Murrayfield stadium and once again I was back up on stage (could get used the stage and all this recognition!), but this time for winning an award for my actual advancement in the business, showing that I had achieved a Crew Leader level within a period of just over 6 months in the business.
With this promotion my money has not only increased but my responsibility within the office and our team has dramatically changed as although I am still being mentored and coached along my way – I am now fortunately really enjoying training other individuals in their early stages of the business.
My main goals for the future are to progress to a level similar to being an Assistant Manager in our particular office – so that I can then finally advance onto my long term goal of learning all the fundamentals of running a brand new location on behalf of the group .
This is the best opportunity I have ever had. To me it does not feel like work and it will provide me with the luxury lifestyle people can only dream of.
